California Aeronautical University came across Sonic Tools in March of 2021. They had one goal at the time: to help place students into the workforce prepared with the tools they needed for the job. This is exactly what they did. Skip Durand, Director of Aviation Maintenance Technology, said “We are already giving these future techs one of the top educations in the country; why don’t we go a step further and purchase the tools they need for their career?”
CAU purchased their first 6 boxes in the spring of 2021. When a student passes their AMT license test after all curricular work is complete, CAU provides them with a filled toolbox that allows them to be completely prepared on day 1 in the workforce.
Placement After School is a Priority
One of the successes Skip harped on is placing students in the field after license testing. Recently, they had a group of 12 AMT’s graduate. Of the 12, one of the females landed a job at SpaceX. Because of the time and money put into the program at CAU and the partnership with Sonic, these students have the opportunity to make a difference in their industry. We want every technician to be successful in their career and it starts at the education level.
